Republica, The Cambridge Junction

It was a little surreal for me to find out that Republica were supporting Boomtown Rats. They were big during my teens and I could truthfully call myself a fan so it was great to finally see them live!

Though visibly older, their energy and stage presence could easily eclipse some of the new, younger bands on the scene, not least while performing their stomping classics Drop Dead Gorgeous and Ready to Go which are still awesome to this day.

You can catch them supporting Boomtown Rats on the 2014 Ratlife Tour and they come highly recommended.

Below are a handful of my favourite shots from the night.

Boomtown Rats, 2014 Ratlife Tour

I had the incredible opportunity of heading back to The Cambridge Junction last night, this time I was photographing Boomtown Rats! The much loved new-wave band returning to the stage due to popular demand, are playing some incredibly intimate venues, this one being no exception.

J1 was packed to the rafters and for good reason, The Rat’s set was amazing and frontman Sir Bob Geldof kept the audience transfixed with an electric performance and witty banter! They even drafted in Republica for support, who’s performance was also one to write home about (my photos of their set will follow in a day or two).

If you have the chance to see them on the remainder of the 2014 Ratlife tour, take it from me, you’ll regret passing it up!

My favourite shots of the night are below, enjoy!

Not enough for you eh?! More of my work from this gig can be found here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/thejunctioncambridge/sets/
